Connections Matter Here for you

What should someone do if they are concerned about dementia?

There are many ways to change your approach that can help if you are concerned about dementia.

As with other conditions, it is important to maintain a healthy diet, healthy weight, and have regular moderate cardio-vascular exercise (that is, the huff and puff type).  It is also important to keep mentally active, only consume moderate amounts of alcohol (or none at all), and wear protective head gear if engaged in any activity where a head injury could occur.  It has also been considered that it is important to work on any emotional and psychological issues and not "bottle things up" (this was a particular emphasis of Naomi Feil (1985, 1993) in her work on resolution and validation). If you are concerned about any particular symptoms that are unusual, then it is very important to seek medical assistance. Don't assume the symptoms relate to a dementia, they may
not.
